FAQs

General Questions

What is your goal when taking photos?

I want to be able to let the day unfold and capture the emotion of what is happening. I prefer moments that are candid, rather than posed ones, but I will direct you when it’s needed. My goal is that you will remember the emotions, the excitement, and everything as it really happened when you view your gallery. My images will be real, fun, colorful, and timeless.

What is your professional history?

I have BA degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University in Journalism. During that time, I worked for the newspaper, The Beacon. I spent five years working for the NBC affiliate in West Palm Beach. Soon after, we started a family. I craved a flexible schedule and loved the freedom photography offered. I am happy that I have been doing this full time for over 13 years now!

What about your team?

I have the best team of photographers! They are not only some of my best friends, but so talented. The girls have been working with me over a decade. You will love them and can feel confident in their work.

Do you travel?

Yes, I do. I take a limited amount of destination weddings per year.

What kind of equipment do you use?

I’m a Canon gal. And we have lots of back ups.

Are you insured?

Yes. Sometimes a venue requires proof of insurance and all of our equipment is covered too.

Do you offer discs of images or digital files?

We provide high-resolution digital files (the digital equivalent of negatives). Our wedding packages include a USB drive in them. Portraits have a digital download option. Captured does retain the copyright to the images and the right to use them for promotional purposes. But, you will do have permission to make unlimited prints for personal use.

How many photos do we get?

I usually delivery around 70-100 images for every hour of coverage. This can vary depending on how much time is spent traveling on a wedding day, if you have a large wedding or a small one, if your guests really like that dance floor, etc.

What is an online gallery?

Your images will be placed online for you and your family and friends to view. It also includes a secure shopping cart – which allows you (and your family and friends) to order prints, etc online with a credit card. This is also how you pick favorite images for your album.

How long will it take to get our images?

It takes about 1-2 weeks to view images from a portrait session. For weddings, often times a preview will be up within 2 weeks of the wedding day. The rest of the photos will be available in your online gallery in 6 weeks.

Should we do an engagement session?

I really leave this up to each couple. There are multiple reasons you might want an engagement. One is to have professional photos of what you look like more every day versus more formal wedding attire. Also, some couples feel like they might be more comfortable with being photographed on the wedding day if they’ve worked with me on a session prior to their day.

Do you recommend a first look?

I think every couple should consider what is most important to them when deciding how to schedule the wedding day. Many of my couples do decide to have a first look. Electing to see each other before the ceremony gives you a few moments alone before the day begins. There is more time for shooting during daylight hours if you are having an evening ceremony. Many times it allows more time for creative images. I will definitely work with you on your timeline for the best photography however you want to arrange your day.

Do we need an album if we have the files?

I consider the digital images a nice way to archive all the moments captured by us. They are a way for you to have those photos forever. The album, on the other hand, is the art piece. It’s designed to tell the story of the day. I love pulling out a wedding album. I really believe its important to have an album that will be an heirloom in your family. And, they are so pretty!!!

How will you photograph our portraits?

Portrait sessions are really a collaboration between us. I won’t ask you to go stand over somewhere and ask you to just imagine I’m not there. Because, well, I am there and with a big camera. I just want you to show me who you are. And I will give you direction along the way. I don’t expect you to come ready with poses or be completely comfortable at the beginning of a session. But, it’s my goal at the end that you enjoyed being photographed. Plus, I’m sure I’ll trip on something and I will definitely say something weird, so you will be way cooler than me anyway! So just be you and I’ll capture it.

What do I need to do if I want to book you?

Contact me for a meeting or phone call. Once we chat and get to know each other and talk details about your day, I will point you to the collections that I think will work for your day. Then after you have chosen an option, I will send a wedding contract online. Read through and sign. Send it in with 40% deposit of the package you selected and we are booked.

Can I pay by credit card?

Absolutely. We can set you up to pay by card for anything you need.

How long do I have to order prints or products?

You have up to one year to order from the proofing site.

Do we need to feed you at the reception?

It would be really lovely if you did. It doesn’t have to be the same as your sit-down meal (many caterers offer “vendor meals” as an add-on option). We work better with food in our tummies… for sure. Oh.. and we are HUGE fans of wedding cake.)
